[Finished] Operation Deadly Love
  • Chapter 16
  • Seokjin
  • Jimin was sitting at the front next to me while Taehyung stayed next to Felix who was frowning in the back as we drove along the road to transport him to the safe house.
  • The road was quiet, with not many cars passing by since it was late in the night. I looked at Felix from the mirror. He was still frowning, his fingers continuously tapping against his knee.
  • ‘I should have known there was something wrong with you when you purposefully bumped into me. What did you do huh? Plant a camera on me?’ Felix asked.
  • ‘Maybe,’ I said, not really wanting to start a conversation with this scumbag. He really irritated me – I mean his breathing annoyed me. He scoffed and went to lean forward but Taehyung was quick to pull him back.
  • ‘Stay where you are,’ Taehyung said in his deep, stern voice. Felix cleared his throat and leaned back to his original position.
  • ‘What kind of men are you huh? Using cheap party tricks and disguises to fool people,’ Felix murmured.
  • ‘You’re one to talk. You were using a charity event to hide your own illegal shenanigans,’ I said as I took a right.
  • ‘You know we wouldn’t be in this * and running away if you didn’t meddle in things that did not concern you,’ Felix said with a huff.
  • ‘First of all, we’re not running away. We’re transporting you so that your ass is safe just in case the scumbags you’re working with feel you’re expendable and choose to end you like they did Kyung,’ Taehyung began.
  • ‘Secondly, we wouldn’t be in this * if you didn’t decide to go and sell diamonds and traffic drugs and weapons during a charity event in the first place,’ Jimin added.
  • ‘It doesn’t matter anyway. You don’t know who you’re dealing with. You can never match them!’ Felix said, his voice raised. He was definitely scared, even if he was trying to hide it behind a tough façade.
  • ‘Why? Who are these people Felix?’ I asked, trying to take the opportunity to get him to talk. Maybe being scared would loosen his tongue a bit.
  • ‘They’re not just some petty group okay? They’re not a couple of nobodies or newbies. I don’t know their names only street or code names. They have their hands in everything! Drugs, prostitution, weapons, human trafficking, bombs, hell I think even chemical weapons,’ Felix said.
  • ‘This is even worse than we thought,’ Taehyung murmured.
  • ‘What even got you involved with them in the first place?’ Jimin asked with disgust in his voice.
  • ‘The money obviously,’ Felix said with a shrug. ‘In the beginning it was supposed to be just simple things but once you’re in, there is no getting out,’ Felix said.
  • ‘You’re going to need to tell us more than that,’ Taehyung said.
  • ‘They’ll kill me if I speak,’ Felix said, sounding genuinely scared this time.
  • ‘They’re going to kill you either way Felix, just like they did with Kyung. You’ve become expendable for them, a loose end that they will want to erase,’ I said.
  • ‘All I know is that the leader is called Cobra. Some rumours are the actual leader is a female but she keeps herself hidden. Their main base is situated in Seoul. There is a factory, ground level is a front for making toys but below ground is where everything happens,’ Felix explained.
  • ‘Damn. Who would look at a toy factory huh?’ Jimin asked just as my eyes fell on a car from the mirror. It had been following us for a few minutes now.
  • I frowned as I took a random turn. ‘Hyung, what’s wrong?’ Jimin asked, picking up on my change of route.
  • ‘*,’ I cursed as I saw the car following. ‘We’re being followed,’ I said.
  • ‘What?’ Felix shrieked loudly. I ignored him as I increased our speed.
  • ‘We’ve had that car following behind us for quite some time. Just confirmed that it is actually tailing us,’ I said. From the corner of my eye I saw Jimin and Taehyung exchanging a look.
  • ‘I’m calling backup,’ Jimin said as he took out his phone and started to call.
  • Suddenly, two more cars approached from out of nowhere. They were pressing on us as I tried to keep on course.
  • ‘*!’ I mumbled as I tried to keep us in the right direction. Before I knew it, one of them hit us from the back and another from the side, sending our car tumbling over and over again.
  • I yelled as did the others as the car turned over. Glass shattered and the metal creaked until we came to a stop. White, blinding pain seemed to hit me from everywhere as every bone in my body seemed to hurt. My vision was blurry and sound was muffled.
  • I tried to turn to look at Jimin who looked passed out from the impact. ‘Ji—Jimin!’ I called out. My voice came out hoarse and weak, barely recognizable.
  • He didn’t seem to hear me as he did not show any reaction at all. I heard groaning from the back but before I could attempt to look, I heard running footsteps and the doors getting pried open.
  • ‘Get Felix!’ a man ordered loudly. I tried to move but it seemed almost as if my body was not cooperating. I couldn’t move and I couldn’t see him clearly but he was wearing black and a mask was covering his face. I could hear the shuffling as they worked quickly. I saw two of them dragging Felix away.
  • ‘What do we do about the cops?’ one the men asked. There was silence before I heard him frown.
  • ‘Leave them. Let’s go,’ he said. I breathed a sigh of relief as I heard them leaving. At least they were letting us live instead of finishing us off.
  • I went to turn around once more and couldn’t help but wince loudly. My head throbbed and my body felt heavy.
  • ‘Jimin? Tae…Taehyung?’ I called out again. I heard Taehyung groaning from the back. At least he was alive but I wasn’t sure about Jimin. I managed to shake off the pain as I sat up and looked at Jimin.
  • I frowned as I saw blood pouring out of his head steadily although not a lot. ‘Jimin!!’ Taehyung suddenly screamed just I reached for Jimin’s neck.
  • I put my fingers there and sighed with relief once more. ‘He’s…he’s alive…’ I stuttered out just as I felt myself losing concisousness.
  • ‘Hyung are you okay?’ Taehyung asked as he was getting out of the car and reaching for my door. I mumbled something, probably incoherent. ‘HYUNG! *!’ I heard Taehyung yell just as the blackness surrounded me.
  • Misun
  • I laid on the bed, unable to actually rest. How could I when I knew the others were working? How could I when I didn’t have the reassurance that Jin, Jimin and Taehyung were okay. I knew sending them with Felix was risky but it was part of the job. Still, I could not help but feel anxious and worried.
  • I turned towards the ceiling as I looked at the strokes of the paint brush. My mind raced to everything that happened. It was supposed to be a simple “caught red handed” moment. Felix was supposed to deliver the diamonds and gather the weapons and drugs and then we intercede.
  • Everything was going to plan and then the plan went to hell. All it took was one single shot to send the whole thing into chaos. People were screaming and yelling loudly. There were people running about as more shots followed.
  • I frowned as I decided to go out of the bed and went to the balcony. I took out a cigarette and lit up. I inhaled a deep breath and breathed it out as I leaned against the cold railing.
  • I looked at the city which although was late at night seemed to still be alive. There were a few clouds up in the sky but I could still see the stars. I took another breath from my cigarette as I thought about my team.
  • Seokjin was a funny guy. He was very nurturing and genuinely caring – not just about the team members but everyone around him. Yoongi was quiet but also smart. He was literally a genius when it came to the tech stuff. Hoseok on the other hand was a bottle of sunshine and energy. He was always moving about and making everyone around him smile. It was almost as if he made sure to keep the team’s spirits up. He was also a genius in his work and nothing seemed to escape him. Namjoon was another genius – not only in his area of work, but also generally speaking. He was also very observant and detail oriented. He had a natural leading ability to him as well.
  • Jimin and Taehyung were also an incredible duo. They were both smart – not only with police work but also street smart which was an important skill to have in our line of work. They were also very good in the field and doing hand to hand combat. In the beginning I was worried that they would feel cut off from the team since they were a pair long before they joined here but they proved me wrong. They did not only manage to merge well but they seemed to be a leading force in getting the team together.
  • Then there was that crack head Jungkook. If I were honest to myself, he was the hardest to read sometimes. He was goofy and sometimes he could act like an *. He was opinionated and unable to filter words. He could be slightly impulsive sometimes, yet, I knew I could trust him to have my back anytime. He proved it, more than once. He had a genuinely caring personality which made it easier to work with.
  • I sighed as I took another breath when my phone buzzed. I took it out and felt my heart stop when I saw the message from the captain.
  • Captain Sejin: Misun – Felix’s transportation detail was attacked. Felix has been taken. Seokjin, Taehyung and Jimin are at the hospital.
  • I gulped as I felt chills running down my body. I felt like the world was collapsing on me as I rushed to my bedroom. I quickly put on a shirt and some jeans. I put on my slippers and grabbed my things before I hurried across the corridor to Jungkook’s house.
  • I banged on his door loudly and Jungkook came to answer. He looked like he hadn’t slept either as he eyed me worriedly.
  • ‘What’s wrong Misun-ah?’ he asked as he placed a hand on my shoulder. He looked at me intently as I seemed to breathe fast.
  • ‘Jin, Taehyung and Jimin are at the hospital,’ I said.
  • ‘What? What do you mean? Are you sure?’ he asked as I nodded.
  • ‘Captain Sejin texted. The transportation detail they were on was targeted. They took Felix but the others are at the hospital. We need to go Jungkook!’ I plead.
  • ‘Of course. Give me a few seconds so I can put on some clothes and grab my things,’ he said. I nodded as I waited by the door while he went to get dressed. A million thought ran through my head.
  • Why were they at the hospital?
  • What happened exactly?
  • How badly were they hurt?
  • Was it very serious?
  • I could not help but feel the guilt immediately start to eat away at me. I was the one who had sent them on that job. I should have seen how risky it was and went with him myself.
  • Before I could delve further into the pit hole of dark thoughts, Jungkook came out slamming the door behind him.
  • ‘Come on Misun, let’s go,’ he said as we both jogged towards the elevator. We got in and I found myself staring at the mirror.
  • I closed my eyes as I leaned my head back to the ceiling. Please let them be okay! I silently prayed to myself as we reached ground level.
  • Jungkook and I both rushed to his rental car as he started the engine and began to drive rather fast.
  • ‘Do you think they’ll be okay?’ I asked. Jungkook sighed as he shrugged.
  • ‘I don’t know how bad the situation is but I have high hopes. It could have been worse Misun. They could have killed them there,’ he said. I nodded but said nothing while he continued to speed down the road.
